Queen Ifrica drops out of Rebel Salute, cites lack of respect
Fans of reggae singer Queen Ifrica will be left disappointed this weekend after the entertainer announced she will not be performing at Rebel Salute on Sunday, September 28.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Ifrica explained that she had to cancel her appearance because the terms of her agreement with the organisers were not met.
"While I was looking forward to performing for the audience at Rebel Salute, I believe that artists must be treated with professionalism and respect," she said.
The decision has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many fans voicing their frustration and sadness in the comment section.
One fan lamented, "Well, looks like I'm not going, she was the performer I wanted to see." Another added, "What!! I was coming to see you blaze a fyah. Damn already got tickets. What's the issue Rebel Salute? Try fix this."
Others defended the her decision, stressing the importance of standing firm on principles. "If we don't stand and know our worth, some may take weakness for kindness," one supporter wrote.
The songstress has long been a staple on the Rebel Salute stage, and her absence will no doubt leave a gap in the highly anticipated show. Fans are now waiting to see how the organisers will respond, and whether her decision signals deeper issues behind the scenes.
