Racing United FC's head coach Anthony Patrick says he is confident that the new playing style he is introducing to his team will have a positive impact when the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) resumes this weekend.

Patrick told STAR Sports that the system is already showing encouraging signs, following his team's performances in last week's hurricane relief matches at the National Stadium.

Racing United impressed in the mini-tournament, defeating Arnett Gardens 3-0, drawing 2-2 with defending champions Cavalier, and narrowly losing 1-0 to Waterhouse.

"I think so far, so good," Patrick said. "We saw it in the hurricane relief match at the National Stadium on Friday. We did some good things, but we still have a few areas that we need to get the players to move in this system. Once we can get them to move and function the right way, then I think we should be fine."

Patrick stated that the players have had just one week of training under the new approach, but he is encouraged by how quickly they are adapting.

"The players have shown that they are adapting to it, and we have been going through training this week, so we should be ready to use it in the Premier League this weekend," he said.

"The players are very pleased about this system and they want to play it in the Premier League. We tried it out on Friday and it bore some fruit and so we are just taking our time and gradually we will get there," Patrick underscored.

Patrick, who has successfully used this system before in the JPL with another club, said he will keep the details under wraps for now.

"I am keeping this system close to my chest, so fans coming to our games will see this new system," he said.

"My players are ready and raring to go because things are really looking up. We've had meetings with them, we've had training sessions, and so I am really pleased with all aspects of my team going into this weekend's restart of the Jamaica Premier League."

Racing United have lost only once this season and sit third in the standings with 15 points from eight matches. Leaders Montego Bay United have 22 points, followed by Portmore United on 18, but both clubs have played more matches than Racing United.

Racing United, who are based in Gregory Park, St Catherine, will face second-from-bottom Molynes United FC on Sunday. Molynes, winless this season, have collected just five points.

"I am pleased with the position we are in now," Patrick said. "We only lost one game to Montego Bay United, but we dropped some points that I thought we should not have dropped. But I am happy being in the top six so far, and hopefully we can kick on from here."
