UWI mourns passing of student resident

The administration of The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, says counselling and chaplaincy support have been activated to assist students and staff affected by the death of a female student on Thursday.

The student resided on one of the halls of residence of the campus. The administration, in a release on Thursday, extended heartfelt condolences to the student's family, friends, and the wider university community.

"The circumstances surrounding this loss are currently under investigation, and out of concern for the privacy of the family, no further details will be disclosed at this time," the release said.

"The University remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all members of our campus community. We ask that the privacy of her family and those impacted be respected during this time of mourning," the statement added.
