Witness in murder case shot and killed

Leroy Blackwood, a witness in a murder case that is currently before the St Catherine Parish Court, was shot and killed by gunmen in Red Ground this morning.

The St Catherine police reports that about 8:30 a.m. Friday, residents of Red Ground, a community which is located near Old Harbour, heard explosions and summoned the police. Residents also saw Blackwood's body lying in a pool of blood.

The police theorize that Blackwood was shot about six times.

Detectives from the St Catherine major investigation division are now probing the shooting.
