Make a winning start with Heezalion, Last Hoorah
HEEZALION and LAST HOORAH, winners last time out, should take bettors past Saturday's opening event before the tail end of the Reggae 6 gets really sticky, requiring multiple selections for a strong finish.
United States-bred SOPHIE SAY SO has impressed in morning sprints, looking tough to beat against imported maidens in the second at five furlongs round.
ALIVE appears the best of the lot, three-year-old local maidens, in the third at six furlongs, after a good runner-up effort behind NUCLEAR JET at six and a half on May 31.
Go with the trio of BLINDING LIGHT, SHINE FOR ME and BODYMOVE in the fourth at six furlongs. BLINDING LIGHT might be far more exposed than SHINE FOR ME and BODYMOVE, numerous races under his girth, but has never been consistent.
The fifth and sixth events are potential minefields, big fields at sprint distances with many variables at play. Don't hesitate to hit the what-if button in these races, especially the fifth for local non-winners of three races and imported non-winners-of-two.
A big field of speedsters in a five-round race means a rush to the half-mile marker, jostling for positions for the first furlong, which, more often than not, leads to interference, stewards enquiries, jockeys' objections and, woefully, disqualifications.
Similarly, the sixth will be knotty, lame-today, sound-tomorrow runners, who have no form to bank on. Use multiple selections to close the Reggae 6 in safe mode.
